After my meeting and brief evaluation today, we made the decision not to truly get started on the brief until the dissertation submission (ever looming), but still make plans for developing a body of research, as well as the initial concept development.
As part of this, I have gone on to research more details in terms of store opening hours, addresses, and, most importantly, phone numbers for Laura Ashley stores in Telford and Shrewsbury (where I call home), as well as in York, Shipley and Wakefield (around the Leeds/West/North Yorkshire area) to ring within the next couple of days to enquire about coming to take some photographs in store.
Hopefully, this will not only provide a little bit of background research in terms of store layout, print, pattern and the retail stock, but will also give us the opportunity to get a body of "stock image" photographs to later mock up and use within the presentation of our final work and proposals for the designs.
