Leeds College of Art Year Book | Design Development

Personal initial design developments, worked on in preparation for our first meeting into the New Year as well as preparing to have any necessary work printed for tomorrow, to then go on to submit for Wednesday, and, finally, present on Thursday.

Following on from the concept of 'Work Hard, Play Hard' which I initially put forward before the festive break, I decided to experiment with something that initially looked quite bold, formal, and corporate, in regards to both the choice of typeface (adapting Trade Gothic Condensed Oblique to have rounded corners for a slightly softer and more unique look) and colour scheme to then go on to create a "reveal" of colour and personality with documented projects through the use of bi-fold pages throughout the year book, also giving way to tutor and industry professional profile pages.

What we hope to convey is a sense of character, fun and humour, which we have all maintained throughout the course (surprisingly, sometimes!) despite all the hard work and graft, which, undoubtedly, has made us more appreciative of all the play between the work.

Tomorrow I'll present the ideas to the group to hopefully gauge some feedback as we go on to develop our design concept boards and necessary content.
