FMP | Zaha Hadid

www.zaha-hadid.com

With Alex having previously cited Zaha Hadid, the famed female (something reasonably rare within Architecture and the Architectural Design industry) Architect, as a source of research and contextual study.

Visiting Hadid's website for the first time, it feels very reflective of her style of work and some of the design within her working portfolio. Unfortunately, in my opinion, this means something very experimental, and, at first, beautiful to look at, but, ultimately, something that doesn't work, and really just feels a little messy.

With scroll bars that jump around, far too much body copy and various drop down menus and no distinguishable hierarchy throughout, it's a visual assault, and a website that I feel would certainly benefit from being stripped back and simply letting the imagery and portfolio do the talking, as most good Architecture and Architectural Design websites do.

Whilst this may not prove to be a direct source of visual or design - based inspiration, what it has taught me is that imagery is key. Information and data is important, but not visually captivating, and when seeking employment, you really need to attract the attention of the prospective employer within minutes, or all of their attention will be lost- something I will certainly take with me as I develop Alex's own website and / or blog.
