As part of the research and contextual research development for the Hannah Crowson WedThings / Wedding Planner brief, I felt it was important to research existing branding and approaches to industry marketing in the contemporary market.

Although the client herself does not work as prominently within the wedding dress/fashion element within the wedding industry, her role as a wedding decoration does, of course, play a huge influence on the fashion, interior, and overall design of the wedding.

On researching various wedding dress designers online (the selected few, shown above through the website index pages and sourced accordingly, above and below on this post, perhaps being some of the most globally - acclaimed and recognised), I found, although adhering to the industry's often elegant and feminine design aesthetic, the range of design was, in fact, incredibly limited... nearly all of the websites using serif logos for the designers (usually in uppercase), with a slideshow of images on the homepage displaying the variety of fashions and designs available. Although this, of course, as aforementioned, serve a purpose, and adheres to a certain visual aesthetic, it does make it incredibly difficult to distinguish one designer from another, and makes it anything but memorable.

Whilst working with Hannah, this will be something I will have to be sure to consider, and to be able to create a balance between feminine, romantic and professional, whilst still maintaing a sense of individuality, which is so evident in Hannah's own personal style and design portfolio.
