More wallpaper samples received through the post today, this time from high street store, Next, along with a Spring/Summer brochure of a selection of some of their interiors, which, particularly in terms of colour matching and a more diverse photographic layout (in regards to some of the existing examples I have seen), has really proven a source of inspiration.
This selection of papers, from my viewpoint, is quite interesting, with a real mix of textures, methods of print and pattern making and a proposed audience or customer for each of the designs (each with their own unique visual personalities).
Personally, I really like the floral teal design, with a soft, flocking texture, adding a hint of traditional design, yet with a really bold colour and contemporary print which I feel could translate really well into our own designs, and be appropriate in regards to fitting into the Laura Ashley print archive.
In our next meeting, within the next week, I hope to discuss these findings and concepts with Steph (my collaborative partner for the brief), as well as determining the theme for the range to start developing a body of appropriate contextual research, and for Steph, in particular, to start generating the printed designs.
