FMP | Geek Table Meeting
Notes from today's Geek Table Collective meeting, discussing points, topics and things to work towards for next week's briefing session.
NOTES
-
* W/C 18th, start working on fortnightly briefs. 6 Briefs will e completed between start date and finish. 6 x 8 = 48 pieces of work to select and potentially showcase in the exhibition.
* Just Geek Table exhibition... use gallery space at LCA, contact Terry Jones (exhibit for up to 3 weeks)- we curate and instal the show.
* End of Year Show on the 14th, get grades back on the 21st.
* May 13 - 31 (more suitable date?)... would be able to get 5 briefs completed, 5 x 8 = 40 pieces of work to select from.
* Make a .com website... or a Tumblr/Cargo to keep costs low?
* Create online presence through social media, Twitter/Tumblr?
* Means of contact and communication.
* Discuss White Cloth Gallery (Leeds) exhibit... contact/discuss potential of social/opening night... wall space and project from.
GIVE LOTS OF ADVANCE NOTICE, please.
* Restriction of up to A1 size (purely for practicality)- other than that, there are no restrictions on size- make it fun, make it jaunty (definitely a lot more interesting when it comes to hanging and exhibiting work)!
* Select a word/theme as a starting point for our work- we can have any outcomes... be it typographic/illustrative/photographic, etc.
PLAN
* 10 - 17 (Friday - Friday) exhibition at White Cloth Gallery, Leeds (clean, professional, suitable for industry)- potentially a free/low cost space to use. Contact White Cloth ASAP.
* Have LCA/Dock Street Studios as a reserve space.
PLAN / BRANDING
* Website/Portfolio... Tumblr/Cargo, etc.
* Social media.
* Bring in logo design ideas for next Monday/brand identity for Geek Table (as to be executed by the whole group... selected at a later point)... then, after selection, we have 3 weeks before starting our own briefs (fortnightly) to refine the logo and branding, to start applying to social media, etc.
NEXT WEEK
* 11am, roles will be assigned... be there or be square.
