This evening I received a reply from Hannah with regards to the latest design developments for the WedThings brief. Although she certainly has an opinion and preference for the design outcome, for the circumstances and some of the compromises that have had of been made, I've been quite lucky that she is very option to negotiation and discussion with the design developments.
Discovering her preference for the use of the petal paper, despite some of the difficulties faced with using it (namely, the cost), I went online to try and source some appropriate stock to start production asap (particularly as I am quite behind with this brief), and unfortunately found that the options were both very limited in terms of overall choice, scale, and, particularly, price, being very expensive for a large-scale, commercial print run.
Therefore, I proposed an alternative of using kraft paper and card stocks to the client (with some very quick design samples mocked up shown above) which would still visually communicate the use of up cycled materials and a "DIY" nature to Hannah's work, but also be far more accessible as a material, and far more affordable as a result.
Hoping for the best- and the opportunity to get a move on with the work asap!
