FMP | Revised Jessie Leong Photography Website Submission Boards

In light of the group crit earlier in the week, and the feedback given in regards to my work, one of the suggestions pointed out was to add some conceptual background information to the Jessie Leong Photography Website boards, something of which had completely slipped my mind, and, of course, was a very welcomed and appreciated piece of advice before going to print.

FMP | Crisis Averted

After a minor crisis last night and this morning we have CONFIRMED that Jessie will now be able to work with us again for the whole day, kindly having asked another photography student, and friend to cover her fashion shoot.

Now I can sleep easy.
Good old Jessie.

FMP | Jessie Leong Photography Website Submission Boards

Spending some time this morning developing the design submission boards for the Jessie Leong Photography Website additional brief.

Maintaining the same overall style and layout from the past OUGD301 module submission, transferring and updating the content on the boards was reasonably efficient, and I have tried to take all the feedback from portfolio reviews on board to ensure the most direct and insightful overview of work being presented.

Along with the mocked up mac screens, I have also added images from one of Jessie's recent projects, 'The Fall Screen Goddess' for contextualisation.

FMP | Jessie Leong Photography Website Mock Ups

After successfully launching Jessie's website yesterday evening, today, I went on to mock up the designs on stock image macs I own from a previous brief.

At this point, I'm happy with the general outcome, and feel that the simple use of the mac will work well in repetition to show the stages and various pages of the website, however, when printed on an A2 board for submission (along with close up details of Jessie's work), I feel that a considerable amount of detail will be lost.

Therefore, I hope to purchase a stock photo of the latest 2013 imac at double the size of this existing image, therefore, will have an option between the two at the later stages of design submission board development in regards to scale... time to source.

FMP | www.jessieleong.com

Very excited this evening to have the full go ahead to publish Jessie's site, and, hopefully, contribute towards publicising and promoting her great talent to even greater, and more varied audiences.

Although the website is very different to what I had initially conceived or considered to showcase Jessie's extensive portfolio, I'm really happy with the compromises we have reached together, and feel confident that this website is to brief in creating a clear, concise, narrative - driven website that can be easily maintained by Jessie both in terms of digital uploads and promotion, as well as financially.

In a lot of respects I've been thankful for the challenges faced due to the various constraints along the way, and feel that I have achieved far more experience, knowledge, and, above all, organisation (!) as a result.

FMP | Jessie Leong Photography Website Final Content Update

After being sent through the finalised content for Jessie's site and projects this afternoon, I was really pleased and excited to be able to complete the layout for all the body copy on the site, and it's great to see the design really coming together, and being able to finally witness just how extensive Jessie's portfolio is for the (relatively) short time she's been working in the industry, and I'm sure she will be pleased both when she sees the extent of her portfolio for herself, and, I'm sure, when she sees how impressed others are by her commitment and passion for her industry.

At this point we're now just ironing out a few queries in regards to simple CSS edits (hover colours, composition, etc.) but hoping to have the site live within the next few days!

FMP | Jessie Leong Photography Website Further Edits

After getting a little more design direction and content though from Jessie, and I am slowly but surely coming towards the final stages of the content development for the website. At this point, I'm largely waiting for written content and overviews for each of the briefs (a total of six briefs still to be written up), but hoping to work as efficiently as I can to ensure the best progression is made in terms of getting back to Jessie, and, therefore, allowing no "waiting around" time on my part.

FMP | Jessie Leong Photography Website (Further Edits)

This afternoon I've spent around an hour making further edits and uploading more content onto Jessie's site, as more was sent through a couple of days ago, in both written content in a Word document, and images via dropbox, including images from a recent wedding shoot, and images for the Taylors of Harrogate photography competition brief.

As shown in the bottom image, of the completed briefs (which were temporarily published, as shown through the green button), we're around 75% there, but I'm still waiting on some written content from Jessie to complete the content upload. Ideally, I wanted to complete the brief this week to make way to dedicate more time to substantial briefs, but as long as I remain focused on powering through as and when the content comes, and encouraging the content as much as possible, it should remain feasible to work on it "here and there" until complete, potentially as late as the end of the module, but hopefully being able to conclude the design before this point.

FMP | Jessie Leong Photography Website Body Copy Edits

Having been sent body copy from Jessie for her website, I started work on adding this in. Although the majority of content was sent, there are still some areas to include/edits which have been made for various sections, along with images that still need to be sent, which I shall inform Jessie of via email asap, hopefully to make amendments to ensure we can get the website live to the general public as soon as possible.

Again, in regards to the overall design, some allowances and edits have had to have been made to adhere to brand guidelines and create a sense of narrative throughout the text. In particular, the first line of each section of body copy within the projects being italicised to add emphasise and prestige to the text.

As shown in the bottom image (unpublished 'OFF' projects), around half of the content is currently complete, so hopefully those additions can be made in the very near future.

FMP | Jessie Leong Photography Website Content

Really appreciative into getting all the body copy and content for the website sent over from Jessie this evening. Clearly having taken time over the content, with a clear planning and consideration, this has put me in great stead for getting the website content completed as soon as possible, and being able to publish the website live to the general public, and on the web.

I'm very privileged to be collaborating with someone as hardworking and clearly as passionate as Jessie, and hopefully the website will provide yet another truly powerful tool in her branding and promotional design range and portfolio.

FMP | Jessie Leong Photography Website Finalised Draft

This evening I spent some more time putting the finishing touches to the first draft of Jessie's website design from all the details we had discussed earlier in the week.

Generally speaking, I think the design works well. It is simple, clean, and adheres to the aim of what the very start of this project was, a chance to showcase Jessie's website and her photographic portfolio to it's best, and most simple (in terms of navigation, documentation, ease of use for both the client and Jessie herself) way.

Looking forward to hopefully getting some feedback, as well as the finalised body copy, back from Jessie soon to hopefully refine the design further and add the finishing touches.

FMP | Jessie Leong Photography Website Amendment Drafts

Yesterday evening, I had a couple of hours spare to work on the re-edit of Jessie's website, developed from our discussions and the feedback given earlier on in the week, the majority of which time was spent re-organising folders and categories for each of the projects, now being moved away from 'Pages' categorisation.

At this stage, there is still a lot of things to be edited, including the addition of both a header and 'Coming Soon' thumbnails, along with editing to the composition and layout of type, etc, and, of course, most importantly, the body copy text for each of the projects. At this point, the design, to me looks a little samey, but I'm sure with the addition of the logo mark and more of a personal stamp on the site it will really add character to the design, and hopefully be something that Jessie can be really proud of.

I've sent along these initial screenshots to her, and hopefully will hear some feedback soon before I go on to take the steps towards finalising the design.
