FMP | Envelope Samples

After seeing a friend and fellow BAGDers samples, yesterday, I ordered some envelopes from envelopes.org, and, just one day later, amazingly, they had arrived with me. With a wonderful array of textures, colours, types of seal, and effects (some pearlescent, and others even lined with high-reflective, metallic stock), I was really impressed with the variety and the wonderfully considered swatch designs the packs were organised into.

When it comes to producing the design deliverables for my client-lead briefs (particularly, at this stage, thinking of the Paul Danks Property Development brief, and potentially the Hannah Crowson Wedding Planner brief), I will certainly look to envelopes.org to order samples, as I'm really impressed with the quality and detail they boast.

Compliment Slip (120gsm, double sided, matt/satin, silver screen printed)

Letterhead (120gsm, double sided, matt/satin, silver screen printed)

FMP | Paul Danks Stationary Design Developments

This evening I have spent some time developing, and putting the final touches to the Paul Danks Property Development brand stationary, before test printing, and presenting for feedback in a group crit session tomorrow.

Along with the existing designs, I also experimented with a couple of envelope formats to ensure that the stationary could be fully consistent and functional for the client on a day-to-day basis.

Although quite simple in design, I hope that it conveys a conceptual brand image, with the colours visually communicating that of modern and luxurious design, along with a prestige and attention to detail. Much like Paul's approach to his business, I hope to introduce a style and minimalism within the work that most effectively reflects his own practice.

FMP | Paul Danks Property Deliverables Revised Outcomes

After a discussion with John in my crit today, and the positive responses I've received from the logo / brand mark, I've decided to expand upon the deliverables slightly.

At this current point, I can foresee that this brief will expand into a significant brief, whereas, perhaps, the Alex Warren Architectural Design brief will become the additional (with less deliverables desired by Alex for the final outcome). Despite the fact I hope to expand it, and am enthusiastic to produce a really high - end and considered brief, I still don't want it to overwhelm any other brief, and keep a good balance with my current progress and design development.

The finalised deliverable / product range I have decided to produce includes:

* Business cards
* Letterheads
* DL envelopes
* Notepad (gum arabic)
* Compliment slips
* Website
* Welcome / Landlord pack
* Document waller
* Key tag

Looking forward to starting to design and print!

FMP | Painted Edge Business Cards

www.carddsgn.com

Researching painted edge business cards from blog, Card Dsgn, for the professional print development and production of my own designs for the Paul Danks Property Development additional Final Major Project brief.

Unlike duplexing, edge painting on duplex business cards ensures that the colour is dense and rich (unlike the sandwiched colour designs), as well as being able to easily transform printed white card into a wide variety of colours, often matching the colour palette of designs and contact information throughout the card itself.

For Paul's cards I hope to create a metallic silver edge, to match the metallic silver on white screen printed cards for a subtle, yet professional and luxurious looking finish.

FMP | Paul Danks Deliverables Designs

This morning I spent some time developing the Paul Danks Property Development brief deliverables. Although this was a project I initially put to one side, after two portfolio reviews in the past week, I received some really positive responses in regards to the logo mark designed, and it was felt really positively that it could be developed into a really strong, yet simple logo for print and web - based application.

Experimenting with different colour palettes, I eventually decided to go for a white and silver, not only to look fresh and minimal, but also to represent both the quality (through the subtle metallic silver... I feel that bronze or gold may be a little too garish for this particular application) and the colour association of the metal keys, of which the logo was based upon, along with playing with the 'p' and 'd' for 'property development' as well as 'Paul Danks'.

I have decided to go on to expand upon this additional brief with business cards, letterheads, compliment slips, envelopes and a proposed website design, potentially to be expanded further at a later date. Written below are the proposed print processes and specification for the print deliverables.

-

SPECIFICATION / PRINT

* 160gsm double sided (spray painted) letterhead and compliment slip with metallic silver screen printed logo / details.
* 160gsm... compliment slips
* 600gsm... business cards, double sided, edge painted / screen printed
* Envelopes (DL) double sided, spray painted (metallic silver) screen printed, laser cut DL window, laser cut acetate (window cover)
* Website proposal through Photoshop

FMP | Paul Danks Logo Generation

Despite recently deciding to abandon the brief, as I felt it didn't particularly have enough scope, room for design development, and felt it was a little repetitive of other briefs I am currently also pursuing throughout the OUGD303 Final Major Project module (Alex Warren Architecture and Hannah Crowson Wedding Planning), I felt it would be worthwhile to document the initial logo designs carried out for the Paul Danks Property Development brief before this decision was made.

With the client's initials and the title of his career, I felt it would be fun to play on the characters in a type as image style, and quite readily came up with the idea of using keys to represent his private rental and lettings business, and felt happy with the logo, albeit generated very quickly in regards to my usual time spent on the initial stages of brand visuals.

Keeping in balance with the rounded shape of the key icons and letterforms of the 'p' and 'd', I decided to use the typeface BPreplay, which has a friendly, through still professional, minimal, sans serif feel, which I felt was appropriate for the clients personable approach to his business, with the highest quality and diligence assured, with the proposed concept of a silver colour palette, to reflect both the metallic key colour and a sense of quality, though far more understated than say, a gold colour palette might be.

Again, although I've decided to abandon the project, I liked my initial ideas and the direction that it may of headed, so would be happy to continue with the brief, time permitting, although, at this point, it is not a major priority.

FMP | Paul Danks Property Development and Lettings Brief

The initial proposed Paul Danks Property Development and Lettings brief, as one of my extra, additional briefs for the Final Major Project, which I intend to spend around a solid 7 says on, to develop a range of branded stationary outcomes and application for brand identity and design development through both print and web-based design to help strengthen my branding portfolio and develop my professional practice and client base/network of contacts.
