FMP | Paul Danks Property Development Stationary Prints

Quick product shots to document time spent yesterday evening working on printing and producing the brand stationary for the Paul Danks Property Development brief, printing digitally onto 120gsm for account file documents, letterheads and compliment slips, with a 600gsm white duplex business card.

I'm really pleased with the decision to move onto using black and white as the colour palette as opposed to white and silver. I think it has much more visual impact, and, also, practically, can be produced economically and universally without a specialist PANTONE brand colour for this independent business, for which the deliverables have been produced for the hypothetical brief.

FMP | Jessie Leong Spring Summer 2013 LookBook

This morning I was really excited to see that the LookBook designed for the Jessie Leong Photography Spring Summer brief had been delivered after being printed with doxdirect last week.
Overall, I'm really impressed with the quality and finish of the designs, particularly the attention to detail and care over the bind and spine width (which, although only around 5mm, is perfectly finished). The only slight disappointment was slight pixelation of the 'Doll Like' images in 'The Middle' project, which unfortunately went unnoticed in the pre-flight checks, however, it fortunately isn't too obvious a flaw due to the nature of the texture created through both the stock and print.

Really excited to show the final outcome to Jessie and get the printed media photographed for my submission boards on Thursday.

Shown above and below are some quick detail shots of the printed publication.

FMP | Paul Danks Property Development Website Mock Up

Design proposal mock ups for the hypothetical Paul Danks Property Development + Private Lettings website, www.pauldanksproperties.com, utilising bold and stylised black and white type to convey the quality and attention to detail in the landlord's business.

FMP | Paul Danks Website Content

Proposals for the website content and imagery for the Paul Danks Property Development brief.

As the brief is hypothetical (despite the client, in fact, very much real), no images could be obtained for the use of mocking up imagery, therefore, I have relied heavily on type to convey the black and white concept recently adopted throughout the print-based stationary and branded media, with a minimal design outcome demonstrating the clear, straightforward, yet attentive care and respect the client has for both his property portfolio and the property's tenants, along with brief, yet informative bio and insight into the independent business.

Developments shown below.

FMP | Paul Danks Print Edits

After resolving and finalising more of the brand stationary and printed outcomes for the hypothetical Paul Danks Property Development brief, I was disappointed, in test prints, to find that the impact I had hoped for in the silver-on-white colour palette was lost, and, personally, I felt it didn't convey the luxury and attention to detail that I feel the landlord, and client, represents in his attention to detail and care.

Therefore, I decided to change the colour palette to black and white, naturally, in increasing the level of contrast within the colour palette creating a more high-impact and punchier design, which I think is well suited to the "black and white" personality of the client's business; in respecting his tenants, being honest, direct, helpful and approachable, with a definite "what you see is what you get" attitude and integrity.

I have gone on to apply the colour palette throughout the existing branding and stationary at this point, and hope to digitally print and document the deliverables throughout the next couple of days.

FMP | WedThings Changes to Print Deliverables

After a few very busy days of printing and finalising designs for submission and designing submission boards themselves, along with numerous other factors, some compromises have had to have been made throughout the deliverables and aesthetic outcomes in briefs.

Notably, in the WedThings / Hannah Crowson Wedding Planner print outcomes, we had proposed to print white ink on kraft paper stock through screenprinting. However, through ink stamp tests we found that the readability and legibility of the ink type was too compromised, and therefore, we have settled on using digital print black ink (as initially proposed) for the stationary. Although, of course, this isn't as "upcycled" or "DIY" in appearance as we'd hoped for with the more tactile, textured screenprint effect, the kraft paper stock will still add a really natural and craft-like feel to the overall range of brand deliverables.

FMP | PT&SP Proposed Website Design

Mock up proposals for a hypothetical website to showcase the work of the BA (Hons) Printed Textiles & Surface Pattern Design degree programme, extending the brief on from the existing collaborative brief with Claudia Griffin, Kirsty Alderson and Kirsty Hardingham in produing the PDF Yearbook Design.

Using the 'Champagne & Limousines' font, as selected by Kirsty A, along with the (expanded grid) cover design by Kirsty H (with a colour palette developed from initial designs by Claudia), I have proposed for an extended portfolio website, showcasing the work of each of the students on the course in a square grid structure, reflecting the layout I originally devised, largely determined by the yearbook publication 210mm x 210mm format.

In situ, I have shown the work of degree student, Hannah Bowen (www.hannahbowen.com), with beautifully intricate illustrative designs in vibrant colours which I thought worked wonderfully in balance with the cover design palette.

The proposal for interactivity would include both the left-hand side navigation bar and the squares each being designated to a student (alphabetical order, l-r), and once clicked, it would open up a new project page, showcasing a selection of projects.

Body copy for the last image (www.leeds-art.ac.uk) is taken from the University website, documenting information about the degree programme and an introduction from 'Team Textiles'.
